Past Glory

I was scrolling through my Facebook posts and I stumbled on this dude
I paused

I know you
My jaw dropped
I open his page and true I do know him
But where?
We are alumni of the same university
But he was famous for something, I tried to remember
Yes!
He was in the basket ball team
The perfect dream guy for every lady
Tall Dark and Handsome
He was one of the eligible boyfriend everyone wanted to date
Some even preferred to just be seen with him
I remembered clearly one of my girlfriends priding in the fact that she slept with him
And others getting so jealous he did not notice them because she’s not as cute as they are

The memories are so clear in my head like its yesterday
Sigh!
I won’t deny even having a crush on him back then
But see where we are now
We’ve been Facebook friends for 4 years and I am just noticing him now
I noticed he’s still cute but there was nothing special about him anymore
No girl dropping the love emojis on his picture
Maybe they are still some crushing hard on him now
But then, I can’t see him beyond what I see now

Hey beautiful lady, listen…
You are there trying so hard to please that dude
Simply because you love him
Or you believe you do
And he seems not to be into you
Or give you the respect and attention you deserve
My sister, kindly move on
He will soon become a past glory in your life the moment you meet that special one
Do not let anyone hold you down just because he’s irresistible , charming and hot
One day, you’ll see him as the burnt part of your jollof rice because you now have the real Nigerian jollof rice
Don’t rush yourself in settling for less
You deserve to be pampered, loved and appreciated
Value your self worth
Keep your dignity
And be the best version of you everyday
I love you 😘😘😘

  1. To add to Deb’s pen, Please drop the guy like hot potato…quick quick. Don’t let any guy trample on your self esteem or make you feel inadequate. There is that one guy who will love you like crazy for who you are and worship the ground you walk on. While you wait for this one guy, please take the time to prepare yourself.

    Deb’s corner, thumps up.
